X Games Aspen 2022
Photographed for ESPN
In 2022, I had the opportunity to photograph the X Games Aspen for ESPN, capturing the high-octane energy, athleticism, and spectacle of one of the world’s most legendary extreme sports competitions. From the roar of the crowd at the base of Buttermilk Mountain to the crisp sound of skis and boards slicing through fresh snow, every moment was packed with adrenaline—and I was there to document it all.
As an Aspen-based action sports photographer, my focus was on telling a complete story: not just the medal-winning tricks and high-flying stunts, but also the quiet tension of athletes preparing to drop in, the camaraderie between competitors, and the atmosphere that pulses through the venue when the lights come up and the finals begin. My work for ESPN highlighted skiing, snowboarding, and snow bike events with an emphasis on editorial storytelling, capturing both peak action and authentic moments that define the spirit of the X Games.
Past X Games Coverage
My journey with X Games goes back several years. In X Games 2020, I documented the event for Aspen Snowmass, capturing the synergy between athlete performance and the lifestyle of winter sports culture. That work focused not only on jaw-dropping tricks, but also on behind-the-scenes snapshots and crowd energy.
In X Games 2019, my images explored the community vibe that surrounds the event—snowstorms, headliners, and quiet moments under stadium lights—reminding us that it’s not just about sport, but the culture that comes with it.
