COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

  • $25/hour

  • 5% commission on net fine-art sales directly generated by the employee, excluding sales tax, shipping, and discounted amounts

  • 40 hours/week during the winter season

  • Seasonal position: November 15 – April 15

  • Option to extend employment into the summer season

  • Approximately 30 hours/week based in the gallery, with 10 flexible hours that may be completed at the gallery or remotely

  • Tentative gallery hours: 11am–7pm, with flexibility depending on business needs

  • Weekend and holiday availability will be required during the busy winter season

  • No health insurance benefits

Commission Structure

Employee-Generated Sales — 5% Commission

The employee will receive a 5% commission on net fine-art sales when the employee both originates the sales opportunity and directly closes the transaction.

An employee-generated lead is generally defined as a prospective client or collector who first engages with the gallery through the employee and whose interest in purchasing fine-art photography is developed through the employee's direct sales efforts.

Employee-Assisted Sales — 2% Commission

The employee will receive a 2% commission on net fine-art sales when the sales opportunity or client relationship was originally generated by the owner or another existing source, but the employee provides meaningful assistance in developing or completing the sale.

Meaningful assistance may include conducting a gallery presentation, discussing artwork and editions with the client, helping select artwork or sizing, preparing wall mockups, following up with the client, preparing sales materials, or completing the transaction.

Non-Commissionable Sales

No commission will be paid on:

  • Sales generated and completed directly by the owner without meaningful employee involvement

  • Website sales completed without employee involvement

  • Sales of books, postcards, merchandise, workshops, or other non-fine-art products or services

  • Sales tax, shipping, and other pass-through charges

  • The discounted portion of any sale

Lead Attribution

Lead attribution will generally be determined based on the origin of the client relationship. When there is uncertainty regarding whether a sale is employee-generated or employee-assisted, the owner will make the final determination based on the documented history of the client interaction.

Net Fine-Art Sales

For purposes of calculating commission, "net fine-art sales" means the final amount actually paid for the artwork after any discounts, excluding sales tax, shipping, framing or other pass-through charges.
