Antarctica with Ice Axe Expeditions – Ski & Photo Journey
In 2023 I had the opportunity to join Ice Axe Expeditions on their legendary ski expeditions to Antarctica—a true experience of a lifetime. As part of the media team, my role was to document not just the skiing, but the full story of what it means to explore one of the most remote and untouched places on Earth.
Antarctica is a place that humbles you. It’s vast, silent, and so otherworldly that it doesn’t feel real at first. The trip begins aboard a ship that crosses the Drake Passage, eventually reaching the Antarctic Peninsula—where steep couloirs drop straight into the sea, and penguins become your ski buddies.
Working alongside mountain guides, athletes, and adventurers, I spent my days capturing early morning bootpacks, summit smiles, and golden light falling over icy ridgelines. But some of the most powerful moments happened off the skis—watching humpback whales surface alongside the ship, seeing icebergs the size of buildings drift by, or simply standing still in the quiet and feeling the weight of the place.
These expeditions are more than just a ski trip—they’re a deep, physical, and emotional connection to the planet. And for me, they’ve become an essential part of my work as an environmental storyteller.
The photographs and films I created during these journeys are part of a growing body of work that aims to document the fragile beauty of polar regions in the face of climate change. Through my lens, I hope to show both the grandeur and the vulnerability of Antarctica—reminding us that even the most remote places are not immune to human impact.
Whether you're interested in expedition photography, considering joining Ice Axe on a future trip, or simply want to see what skiing at the edge of the world looks like—this collection is for you.
