Antarctica - A Photographer’s Journey

Skiing, Ice, and the Edges of the Earth

In 2023 and 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to join Ice Axe Expeditions on their ski expeditions to Antarctica. I’ve documented adventures all over the world—but nothing prepared me for the surreal, humbling experience of photographing in the coldest, driest, and most remote continent on Earth.

As part of the media team, my job wasn’t just to capture epic ski descents (though there were plenty). It was to tell the full story: the silence of sea ice, the grace of penguins, the towering walls of ancient glaciers, and the small human moments that remind you how far from home you really are.

Why I Photograph Antarctica

Antarctica challenges you. The weather changes by the hour. The light is sharp one moment and ghostly the next. The scale of the place is almost impossible to describe—mountains rising straight from the sea, endless fields of blue ice, and skies that feel like another planet. But that challenge is what drives my work.

As someone who’s passionate about landscape and nature photography, this place feels like a final frontier. My photos from Antarctica are about more than beauty—they’re about climate fragility, about noticing the small signs of change in a place that should feel timeless. You’ll find images of wind-sculpted ridges, sea birds in flight, and glaciers calving into turquoise water—each a quiet reminder of what we stand to lose.

Some of the work from these trips ties into my climate storytelling series, like my Water in the West collection, where I explore the interconnectedness of snow, rivers, and drought.
